Description
Graphite is the best material for crucibles. It is strong, lightweight, and has high thermal conductivity. Graphite Crucibles are used to melt metal. The graphite crucibles have strength similar to steel and can withstand very high temperatures. The carbon content of graphite crucibles is higher than in other materials. It gives them a high melting point and makes them heat resistant up to 3100°C (5600°F). These properties make graphite perfect for use in industrial applications where extreme heat is required to process metals such as aluminum or steel. The main advantage of a Graphite Crucible over an iron or steel crucible is that it doesn’t rust when exposed at high temperatures. The graphite also stays inert under these conditions so there is no risk of contamination by substances such as sulfur when melting metals that contain sulfur compounds like iron pyrite.
